Hocus Pocus is a true classic for the autumn season. The movie celebrates its 27th birthday this year. The film is written by Mick Garris and Neil Cuthbert; the director is none other than Mr. Kenneth Ortega. The new kid in town decides to explore the old abandoned house on halloween, accidentally resurrecting three witches. He must spend Halloween night trying to stop their evil plan to become immortal.

You’ve Got Mail is a romantic comedy for the whole family. The movie was first released in 1998, a nostalgic time when computer technology was in its infancy. The film takes place in beautiful New York City, and while all four seasons are presented, autumn is perhaps the most outstanding. And who hasn’t heard of the famous line said by Joe Fox, played by Tom Hanks: “Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.” Adorable!

Casper is another classic for the spooky season. Those who are scared of ghosts, no need to worry, because Casper is a friendly ghost. The movie is a hilarious comedy that premiered in 1995, starring Christina Ricca, in a very different role from Wednesday Addams. The movie is about an afterlife therapist and his daughter who move to a haunted house in order to free the ghostly spirits.

Bird Box is a Netflix movie based on a novel. As it was first released in 2018, it is a much more recent film compared with the others on this list. The post-apocalyptic-style setting of the movie, with abandoned houses and scary scenes in the dark, will really keep you awake! It is a horror/thriller/sci-fi film well worth the watch. In summary, the people are forced to cover their eyes wherever they go, as something tries to hunt them down!
